Rural areas can greatly benefit from the contribution of youth, in terms of innovation, regeneration and growth of employment. At the same time, the role of social economy undertakings in the rural sectors can add an extra value to the local development policies.

When youth and social entrepreneurship meet in rural areas, new opportunities are in the pipeline!

These ideas are at the basis of the ruraLAB approach. One of the latest documents that was delivered by the project Consortium is the “ruraLAB Action Plan and Self-Assessment Tool”, which is a useful and usable handbook providing step-by-step guidance for young social entrepreneurs and young people in rural areas about how to be prepared for a job in social entrepreneurial business, either as an employee or as an entrepreneur.

This guide takes the rural wannabe through a personal journey made of a set of integrated steps. Therefore, the learner moves from a phase of envisioning of his/her own professional path, to a self-assessment process focussing on specific and sectoral skills and competences, to a personalised training provision. The final goal is for the learner to engage and take action to get the best employment opportunities.

We invite you to try the ruraLAB self-assessment paths, by clicking HERE to explore your social entrepreneurship competences, and HERE for your employability competences.

The “ruraLAB Action Plan” has been developed on the basis of original research findings and referring to the innovative EU competence frameworks EntreComp, GreenComp and DigComp, as well as the OECD framework of key competences.

The ruraLAB Competence Models are also published in the website:
